Introducing METalks.com - the Middle East Talks Forum

I've been toying with this idea for a while now, as some of you already know, and last night I decided to take the plunge. I set up new forums to carry out discussions about the Middle East. Everyone is welcome, only please read what I had already posted there. No rules are set in stone as of yet, but I do intend on keeping Metalks.com a friendly place. The idea is to promote communication and build bridges, not to spew hatred and feel all superior.

Everyone is welcome, from any place in the world. It shoud be a place to ask questions, talk and exchange views. Politely please :)

So, just head over to www.metalks.com, register for your account (it's free, of course) and start posting. Either reply to my threads or start one of your own. Let's get talking :)

Maddy, You need not feel foolish about asking questions. It is the person who thinks they know it all who is the foolish one. No one knows it all. And since you and I are not from that region, why would we know the dynamics of the conflict(s)? We can only know what we read online or hear from the media, and those sources can be quite questionable.

Annette, I'll sign up, too. Thanks for putting in motion such a great idea.

Thank you! I actually think questions from people would make great threads. You will be getting different opinions and creating a discussion, a dialogue. No question should make you feel foolish. You just may be surprised to see how people come up with very different answers.

Hi,

I check your blog only infrequently to get an idea of what average israeli people feel. I'm glad to hear your family survived unscathed. Anyway, I noticed this post in an earlier comment to your blog so I'm suprised you didn't pick up on it (or perhaps you decided you want something different). It might be a better idea to just use this and have a single forum:

I went there back then and tried to register. I don't even remember what the problem was, but I had some technical difficulties.

I didn't like the fact that the board was a on a free host. I believe that to have a solid base, you need your own domain name, database and hosting. Sure, it costs some money (about $180 to setup and then monthly hosting expenses), but I think that in the long run, it's a good investment for a viable forum.
